Nestraq Companion — privacy policy
Last updated: 5 July 2026
The Companion is built to know as close to nothing about you as an extension can. No account, no email, no browsing history, no analytics trackers, no cookies. This page is the complete list of what it touches.
What leaves your browser
- Four facts about the listing you score — asking price, postcode/outcode, bedrooms, property type — parsed locally from the property detail page you are viewing and sent to api.nestraq.com so we can return a deal band. Not the page itself, not the address line, not photos, not your scroll or clicks. Four facts is the complete list.
- A random install id. Generated on your device, linked to no account, no email, no identity — its only job is fair rate-limiting of the free API (40 checks/day). Our server never stores the id itself: it keeps a truncated cryptographic hash of it, in a counter that self-deletes after 48 hours. Nothing is written to any permanent database.
What never leaves your browser
- Your browsing history. The extension runs only on portal property detail pages and is inert everywhere else.
- Anything you type, click, or search — it reads the four facts above and nothing else.
- Any identifier that could link a score to a person. There is nothing to log in to.
What's stored on your device
- The random install id (removable at any time by uninstalling the extension).
- A cached copy of our remote on/off configuration (so we can switch a broken portal parser off).
- A 24-hour cache of bands you've already fetched, so revisiting a listing doesn't spend your daily quota.
The area signal
Where shown, the public-notice count (The Gazette) is an area-level figure for the postcode district — it is never a claim about, or linked to, the specific home you are viewing, and the extension never displays notice contents.
"Free forever" — scoped honestly
Deal bands and scores are free and stay free. That promise is scoped to scores only: Nestraq's separate, optional paid product is the reveal (a home's exact address, full comparables and diligence report) inside the Nestraq app. The extension itself has no purchases, no paywalls and no ads.
Selling and sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share any of the above with anyone. The four listing facts are used to compute your band and for anonymous, aggregate service statistics (e.g. total daily checks) — nothing else.
Your rights & contact
Because the extension holds no personal data about you, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct or delete — uninstalling removes everything on your device, and the server-side counter erases itself within 48 hours. Questions or UK GDPR requests: [email protected]. Our main site privacy policy is at nestraq.com/privacy.
